Well, of course, it was an idea that was probably just out there in the universal subconscious. The reason I wanted a landing big enough to use as an extra room was that we had seen one being used in that way in a friend's parents' house in Finland; and it was jolly nice.
I am beginning to think that ours will not be nearly big enough, as there will be not only the virginals and a little desk, but also a divan (in the Turkish sense), which is what there was at Eeva's parents' house, so far as I can recall.
Mary's built in desk is much nicer than our table will be. In fact, looking at the pictures of her house and reminding myself what it looks like, I very much regret that we are not having more built in stuff such as more shelves. It is so much neater to have things part of the walls. Oh well, we probably can't afford it.
East: East of the original. Poulary: Pool of the Shieling. Alternatively: "boggy pasture". Wood: contains trees.

As you have stated previously, she has taken your idea for a study on the landing.
